Secondary German

Secondary German

Secondary German is a clear, friendly textbook for students aged 11 to 14 (Key Stage 3, Years 7–9). It covers the national curriculum for modern foreign languages in England, building listening, speaking, reading and writing step by step. Students learn to greet people and talk about themselves, numbers, birthdays, their family, pets and colours, and their school and school day, then move on to free time, the weather, asking questions and saying no, food and drink, shopping at the café and the market, their town and the weekend. In the final part they describe holidays and travel using the past tense, take a day trip to Lübeck, and talk about their daily routine, healthy living, technology and media, the German-speaking world and their future, with the story of the carol Stille Nacht. Every unit has dialogues, clear grammar boxes on genders, cases, word order, verbs and tenses, tips on German sounds and spelling, culture notes from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and practice questions with full answers. Verb tables, classroom German and a German–English glossary make it a supportive companion for class, homework and revision.
